Vidya Balan’s short film Natkhat enters Oscars 2021 nomination race

Bollywood actress Vidya Balan’s short film Natkhat has joined the nominations race for the 2021 Academy Awards. The film marks Balan’s debut as producer. She also stars in the film along with child actor Sanika Patel.

Directed by Shaan Vyas, known for films like Masaan and Zubaan, the film is part of the long list of nominations in the Best Short Film category. Natkhat, produced by Ronnie Screwvala and written by Annukampa Harsh, released last year.

The film premiered at Tribeca's We Are One: A Global Film Festival and was also screened at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne and the London Indian Film Festival last year. It has also won the German Star of India Award at the Indian Film Festival Stuttgart.

The 93rd Academy Awards has been postponed to April 25 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
