Singapore gets first ever e-registration for prepaid mobile customers

Local Singapore telecommunications company Singtel has launched a fuss-free digital self-registration service for prepaid customers.

Also known as eKYC (electronic Know Your Customer), this first-of-its-kind service in the country enables Singtel’s prepaid customers to register their new SIM cards within five minutes.

It can be done on mobile phones, allowing customers to activate their mobile service 24/7.

Singtel also introduced eKYC for its Dash customers to self-register for mobile remittance.

“As people increasingly turn to their mobile phones to get things done, our mobile-first approach ensures that customers can easily do what they need to on their own time and terms,” said Yuen Kuan Moon, Chief Executive Officer of Consumer Singapore, Singtel.

“For tourists in particular, they can register themselves in minutes and connect immediately with friends and family,” he added.
