According to reports, the researchers at the University of Central Florida have developed a process to create flexible supercapacitors that will have more energy storage capacity and can be recharged more than 30,000 times without beginning to degrade.

Nitin Choudhary, a postdoctoral associate at UCF, says, “If they were to replace the batteries with these supercapacitors, you could charge your mobile phone in a few seconds and you wouldn't need to charge it again for over a week.”

People using smartphones know that after 18 months of usage, the battery holds a charge for less time as the battery begins to degrade. The commonly used lithium-ion battery in phones can be recharged less than 1500 times without any failure. But the latest process created by UCF researchers yields a supercapacitor that does not degrade and can be charged more than 30,000 times.
