A ‘Mehfil’ in Singapore

As Singapore gets acquainted with the charm of Urdu, thanks to Mughal-e-Azam this weekend, Zafar Anjum's publishing company Kitaab, brings the concept of ‘mehfil’ to the city-state. A platform meant to showcase their talent in the beautiful language.

Explaining the concept of mehfil, Zafar said, “Mehfil means congregation or gathering in Urdu/Hindi. It used to denote an evening of courtly entertainment poetry or concert of music and dance, performed for a small audience in an intimate setting.”
