Singapore gears up to celebrate 52nd National Day

The much-anticipated National Day Parade (NDP) is less than 24 hours away as Singapore makes its tryst with 52 years of nationhood. As the young country gets engulfed in the national celebration, Connected to India brings a summary of the various events that will take place tomorrow. So get ready for the mega show.

The pre-parade segment will start at about 5:20 pm and the parade will end at 8:20 pm.

The show will start with the Dynamic Defence Display (D3) showcasing the might and technical prowess of the Singapore Armed Forces. This year’s D3 promises twice the excitement as it is held in two parts - before and after the Parade and Ceremony (P&C) segment.

Dynamic Defence Display Part I

This part underlines the role of the Singapore Armed Forces as the ultimate guarantor of Singapore’s sovereignty and independence. Assets from the Army, Air force and Navy will roar in a synergistic display of military might against the back drop of the Marina Bay skyline.

Parade & Ceremony (P&C)  

This is the most important segment of the event. The P&C segment aims to evoke pride and confidence among Singaporean. It will comprise  uniformed and civilian contingents from all walks of life exhibiting the precision and discipline of a military-style parade. It will also feature a special tribute to 50 years of National Service (NS50).

The denizens will also be treated to a military tattoo performance, the 21-Gun Presidential Gun Salute on the M3G military raft, the Feu-de-Joie, as well as the State Flag Flypast flown by a Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF)’s Chinook helicopter escorted by two AH-64D Apache helicopters. For the first time in NDP, the Salute to the Nation will be performed by the five RSAF F-15SG fighter aircraft.

Dynamic Defence Display Part II

This segment will showcase the readiness of Singapore in adopting a whole-of-government approach in tackling increasing security threats such as cyber attacks and terrorism. It will depict how cyber security agencies deal with cyber attacks as well as an integrated response by the Singapore Armed Forces, Singapore Police Force, Singapore Civil Defence Force in overcoming multiple terrorist attacks.

The event will highlight the national movement of community trust and vigilance is also evident, epitomising the need for Singaporeans to stand as #OneNationTogether in times of adversity.

The sheer spirit of camaraderie and togetherness of Singaporeans will be also be showcased in the NDP. Spread over six chapters, the show will feature the collective strength and determination of Singaporeans, in line with the NDP theme #OneNationTogether.

Strong and united families form the foundation of Singapore. ‘Growing Together’ represents the great human endeavours of love, harmony and acceptance. Come what may, Singaporean bonds of affection will never be broken.

Thriving Together

The Singapore spirit is symbolised by the ever-changing and creative landscape of the Marina Bay area. ‘Thriving Together’ is a testament to Singaporeans’ unwavering resilience and unceasing innovation. In a new world of transformation and disruption, they will continue to master new skills and seize new opportunities!

In diversity, there is a common thread of nationhood. ‘Celebrating Together’ highlights exceptional unity in diversity. People from all walks of life, races and religion call this little Red Dot their home and will continue to tap on the many abilities of all the people, including the ever-resilient elderly, to build a better home for all!
