PBD 2017: Short film highlights efforts of MEA

Pravasi Bhartiya Divas (PBD) is always an occasion to be celebrated with a sense of pride and exuberance! The 14th edition of PBD is all set to kickstart on January 7, 2017.

To mark this convention, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has released a short film. Shot in the beautiful city of Bengaluru, the film highlights how the government has focused on its engagement with the Indian diaspora and the Indian community overseas over the past few years.

The video starts with the national anthem and moves on to show Prime Minister Narendra Modi meeting Indians across the world and how he has brought India on the global map. It moves on to feature moving stories of Indians who were rescued by the MEA. The video also documents Sushma Swaraj and her team’s contribution in reaching out to people stuck in difficult situations.

For the first time, top leaders have directly gone and engaged with the Indian community all across the world. Brainstorming sessions in the form of PBD panel discussions on various topics of mutual interest have been held throughout 2016 to shape a relevant agenda for the PBD Convention, which will now be held every two years.
