Jet Airways has signed a new agreement with Singapore-based low-fares carrier Jetstar Asia for flights from Singapore which will allow passengers to flights from both airlines in a single travel plan.

Under this codesharing agreement, Jet Airways will place its marketing code ‘9W’ on Jetstar Asia flights operating from Singapore to 11 destinations across the Asia Pacific region: Bangkok and Phuket in Thailand, Perth and Darwin in Australia, Jakarta, Denpasar Bali and Surabaya in Indonesia, Ho-Chi-Minh City in Vietnam, Kuala Lumpur and Penang in Malaysia and Hong Kong.

Bookings for the codeshare flights open for sale on March 22 for travel commencing March 26, 2017.  A codeshare agreement allows airlines to book passengers on partner airlines for more convenient itineraries and flight times.

The latest codeshare will not only strengthen traffic flows via Singapore, but will also offer guests the advantage of twin/tri-city itineraries’ options through Singapore, either via Bangkok or Hong Kong. For example, a passenger can now fly from India to Singapore with Jet Airways, and onward to Hong Kong or Bangkok on a codeshared Jetstar Asia flight, returning to India on Jet Airways directly from Hong Kong or Bangkok, all on a single itinerary.

“With this codeshare agreement, our guests will now be able to conveniently tap into an extensive network to explore new and exotic destinations across Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Hong Kong and Australia via Singapore,” Jayaraj Shanmugam, Chief Commercial Officer, Jet Airways, said.

The codeshare will also allow JetPrivilege members to accrue JPMiles on the codeshare flights operated by Jetstar Asia.

For Jetstar Asia, this codeshare allows it to participate in the high growth traffic trends between India and the Asia-Pacific region.

Francis Loi, Head of Commercial Operations, Jetstar Asia said, “As the first low-fare codeshare partner for Jet Airways, this partnership is a testament to the confidence full-service carriers have in our product and customer service on board our flights.”

Jetstar Asia currently flies to 25 cities in Southeast Asia, China and Australia. Jet Airways will be the ninth codeshare partner for the Jetstar Group.
