Daddy: Sneak peek into the dark underworld

Arjun Rampal’s much awaited film Daddy, portraying the enigmatic life of Arun Gawli, one of the most feared gangsters of Mumbai, is set to release on September 8.

Rampal was so obsessed with Gawli’s character that he started shooting without seeking written consent from Arun Gawli. However, the don later obliged Arjun and signed the contract written in English though he is not acquainted with the language.

Arun Gawli is a man who scripted his own destiny, eventually going on to become one of India’s most feared gangsters. The film effectively portrays the various twists and turns of his life.

Today, he remains an enigmatic figure; at once a volatile, power-hungry criminal for some and the respected ‘Daddy’ or modern-day Robin Hood for the working-class neighbourhood he belongs to.The film follows the intertwined fates of the world-weary

The film follows the intertwined fates of the world-weary Gawli as he attempts to enter politics and a frustrated police inspector with a secret history of his own.

An unfolding jigsaw puzzle, told from different points of view and spanning over four decades, Daddy is an unforgettable excursion into the Mumbai underworld.

Though the film was slated to release on July 21, but at Arun Gawli’s daughter Geeta’s request, Arjun Rampal and the filmmakers extended the release to September 8.
