Manu Sawhney, who had made Singapore his base for over 14 years working at the helm of various sports related enterprises, is headed back home to work with one of India's premier media companies - the Living Media Group.
New Delhi-based Living Media Group is the publisher of the respected weekly magazine India Today and news channels Aaj Tak, India Today Television, Tez Tv and Delhi Aaj Tak.
Connected to India learned about the move from sources who are familiar with the fact that he is to join Living Media as the Group CEO, a position recently vacated by Ashish Bagga, a veteran of 15 years with the conglomerate.
Manu worked in various capacities at ESPN Star Sports, heading its South Asia operations and finally led the company at the Asia level as the Managing Director of the joint venture. He is also a Director on the board of EPL club Manchester United. Until recently, Manu was the CEO of Singapore Sports Hub.
Manu's international experience of having worked with digitally savvy global brands will come in handy for Living Media Group, which faces challenges from competitors like the Times Group, First Post among others. All of them vying for the younger audiences in a market with over a billion mobile users.
